This is a picture of the sign at the entrance to Auschwitz. I picked this picture because it would have been the first thing Elie saw when he arrived in the camp. It reminds me of the scene where they first arrive at the camp. That moment in time was certainly a very important turning point in the author's life. He went from being an ordinary boy to a slave in a death factory where many were killed because of one man's insanity. The sign seems simple and harmless, but is actually evil and sinister.

Night 2
This picture is another simple picture. It shows three young boys with bowels of soup. The thing that this reminds me of is the soup Eli keeps talking about it the novel. These boys were probably given the same stuff that Eli did. You can tell by the expressions on their face's that they are sad and probably hungry. It is easy and at the same time hard to wonder what these young boys saw already in their lives. This picture makes you wonder what their stories are and what happened to their families.

Night 1
This is really a simple picture depicting a Jewish mother and her children walking along a railroad track. There also appears to be some barbed wire in the background, so I assume they must have just arrived in the concentration camp. The part of the novel that this most reminds me of is the part where Eli and his father were separated from his mother and sister. The people in this picture seem to have the sadness of someone who has just been separated from the people that they love. I think that this picture is memorable because it so simple, but at the same time powerful.

First Post
Well today I am making the first post on my novels blog. I don't really have much to say today because I haven't been doing much because of all the snow. I mainly played playstation the whole time we were not at school, but I did shovel the driveway. Seems like not much has happened this semester, I guess because of the snow. At least I get to make sure the new blog works.
